AIGA CT Social Media Design

Social media and marketing materials created for the AIGA Connecticut chapter.

During my last semester in university, I completed an internship in which I collaborated with the chapter president to refresh AIGA CT's social media and web presence, driving more attention to upcoming events and encouraging young designers to get involved with their community.

I led campaigns such as the Helpful Tips for a Portfolio series, designed themed graphics for observances such as Pride Month and National Volunteer Month, and more, alongside regular event graphics, board recruitment posts, and local designer highlights.

Beyond daily content, I developed full visual identities for key events, including an adaptable system with cyber aesthetics for a major speaker event; a trendy, nostalgic look for the 15th Anniversary Celebration; and a bold, energetic identity for the 2023 Make-A-Thon (created in collaboration with a senior designer). Each time I started a new visual system, I workshopped with other team members and studied how past AIGA CT volunteers treated similar events, making sure I approached the internship as thoughtfully as possible.

Additionally, I contributed to AIGA CT’s WordPress site, publishing new event pages, preparing design assets for existing templates, managing plugins and file organisation, and updating old content and imagery.

I also experimented with fun motion graphics in Adobe After Effects—both for my own visual identities and for systems developed by other designers—to enhance visual impact and grab audiences’ attention:

This internship was one of my first experiences tackling public-facing design... with the "public" being other, more experienced designers, no less. Oh, and while representing the Connecticut chapter of the national design organisation. So, while the expectations were quite intimidating, it resulted in an intensely informative and exciting role, building the confidence to trust my creative instincts, collaborate with senior designers, and deliver professional, lasting work.

Within the four months I was social media manager, our reach increased by 283% and engagement by 366%, results that derived from experimenting with more consistent, story-driven content.
